Background

Followed by the promising progress of DEP Common Entities project, a second team began the work for Data Hub. Two projects eventually progressed simultaneously

Challenge

Data use and re-use across applications is not simple nor intuitive, so the Tax Administrators often opt to re-import and re-map in individual application.

Discovery

I facilitated two 2-day workshops in late 2018 and early 2019. Activities including the creation of Scenarios, Personas, Empathy Map, Journey Map and sketches with the product owner, business analysts, subject matter expert, product director, lead developer, and data scientist.

During the workshops, we started sketching the ideas together. Later turned into wireframes and high fidelity prototypes for user testing.

User Testing

DataHub application is tough to design as it consists of heavy data. We have taken user testing seriously to ensure each feature is tested thoroughly. I worked closely with a researcher to review the goals and scenarios, and created the testing scripts together based on individual roles. We conducted the tests through 1-on-1 online testing, as well as testings during the company’s annual tax conference.
